Dr. Douglas Abeles
Dr. Douglas Abeles specializes in Sports Medicine, Spine Surgery, and General Orthopaedics.
He completed fellowships at Georgetown University-Virginia Sports Medicine Institute and also USC-Rancho Los Amigos Spine Surgery in 1995.
His residency was completed in 1993 at the prestigious New York Medical College-Brooklyn-Queens (previously known as Catholic Medical Center).
He also rotated on the spine and pediatric services at the Hospital for Joint Disease in 1992.
Dr. Abeles performs innovative minimally invasive surgeries of the spine, shoulder, knee, ankle and hand.
He is among a handful of uniquely talented surgeons to perform highly technical surgeries resulting in less discomfort and faster recovery for the patient.
He is also well versed in exploring all means of non-operative techniques designed to give the patient the best chance of healing without surgery if possible.
Dr. Douglas Abeles has been in practice in the East Bay of Northern California for more than a decade,
during which time he has performed over 4,000 procedures of various types with an excellent outcome and recovery rates.
After surgery, the vast majority of patients who undergoe minimally invasive surgery are relieved of their pain in either
lumbar herniated discs, rotator cuff tears, impingement syndrome, anterior cruciate ligament tears, meniscal tears and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Dr. Abeles also performs more traditional spine, knee and shoulder surgeries which may have other indications and needs.
Many of our patients are physically active and are involved in physical labor and various sports activities.
Dr. Abeles is keenly aware of their need to return to their previous performance level and tries very hard to achieve it.
Also, because of Dr. Abeles's reputation, many of his patients come from throughout the United States, as well as internationally.

Sharon has been practicing Asian medicine, acupuncture and herbal-nutritional medicine since receiving her masters degree in 2000.
Sharon is both nationally and state board certified, with pre- and post-graduate studies in pain management, clinical nutritional medicine
and has studied intensely for many years, mind & body guided meditation techniques to increase patients self-healing.
Sharon provides a gentle technique using a holistic individualized healing approach for all her patients.
She combines acupuncture with nutrition, health cooking styles, mind body skills such as yoga and positive thinking,
and most important, her sensitivity to patient's needs and limitations.
Ms. Zeiss is well known in the medical community as having a broad range of healing approaches including over 30 years' experience in
nutritional/vitamin supplemental medicine. She enjoys the challenge of hard cases and conditions; from pain to cancer support. Her
